I am 100% behind Jeff Lewis and Second Chances.

My son has dealt with addiction for some time now, and he’s been to a few other places that didn’t work out. After he was kicked out of one residence without notice for a minor issue, a counselor connected me with Jeff, who was very good and helpful in a dire situation. Jeff basically just took charge in the middle of this crisis. He picked my son up, connected him to a psychiatrist and a few doctors so my son could get on the right meds, and got him settled at Second Chances.

My son is doing really well in this program. He seems to be improving by the day with the medicine he’s on and the help he’s getting.

The staff at Second Chances is fantastic. Jeff Lewis is one in a million in the field of sober living, and I consider it a huge stroke of luck that we found him. David Jackson, my son’s house manager, is a wonderful person. He is down-to-earth and firm, but also understanding: just what my son needs. He’s helped Brian a lot. Another staff member, Eric, sometimes transports Brian places, like to the grocery store and recently helped him get a gym membership. Slowly but surely, as a team, we are all getting my son up and running again.

Jeff and the Second Chances staff have been a godsend.

My son has been an addict for about ten years. After a relapse last year, he was arrested and ended up in a sober home that did not allow medication-assisted treatment for addiction while his court case was pending. Ryan felt he could not stay sober without MAT, so I reached out to Jeff Lewis because I’d heard Second Chances allows Suboxone. It’s so hard to find places that do. Jeff agreed to take Ryan; he even connected my son to a doctor who could get the prescription we needed. It’s hard to describe the relief I felt knowing that Ryan was getting the right medication to support his addiction recovery in a place where people truly care about him and his future.

I live out of state, so helping my son with his recovery and his legal issues has been made more challenging by distance. Jeff and the Second Chances staff have been a godsend.  Not only did Jeff arrange for MAT for Ryan, but he also provided a set of solutions for how I could safely handle sending money for my son’s groceries and other needs. On top of that, he provided helpful letters for my son’s court case, assuring them that Ryan was in an accountable setting where he was working on turning his life around.

Our experience with Second Chances has been great overall. I’ve visited several times now, and the house is always extremely neat and clean. The first time I visited, in fact, Jeff was there checking up on something that needed to be fixed – further proof to me that this “ship” is well run.

Jeff has been my touchpoint for Ryan’s recovery, and he is super positive, upbeat, and always ready to help. He always answers the phone when I call or gets right back to me. I love that he and the rest of the staff use positive motivation to help residents along in their recovery. They get that you can’t shame someone into sobriety, but that you can love them to a better place. That’s so important. Another huge selling point for Second Chances for me has been their flexibility with Ryan: they really believe in prioritizing the individual over any set of rigid ideas or rules. The fact that they support MAT for recovery shows this: they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep someone alive.

“If I could give a 10-star review, I would.”

Second Chances Recovery Homes are the finest private recovery residences in Austin, hands down. I should know, because I’ve been through the doors of a lot of these places over the 20 years my son has struggled with his addictions.

Matt has been in about 20 sober houses. With many of them, he came out having more problems than he went in with. In one place, he went in with a heroin addiction and came out addicted to meth, too. There was little follow-up, and he always relapsed.

Our experience with Second Chances has been so different. Second Chances founder Jeff Lewis is the only person who has been able to truly reach my son.

This is Matt’s second time in a Second Chances home. The first time, 4 years ago, he simply wasn’t ready to do what he needed to do to get sober. Five months ago, I called Jeff to tell him that Ryan was ready to really work the program and asked if Jeff would consider taking him back. Jeff said, “Absolutely. He has a place here.” Jeff then went personally to pick Matt up from the hospital and bring him to the Connally Lane Second Chances home.

Jeff is an honest, caring person whom I trust to look after my son’s well-being. He knows how to help residents get to the desired end result of a clean and happy lifestyle. He is also wonderful at helping families get back to being families.

Jeff and his staff do a great job of keeping their residents focused on recovery. They check in almost every week with family members who want to be included in the process. This is my first experience with addiction in my family, and Jeff has spent hours on the phone with me, walking me through what’s going on with my son, and why, and what to expect next.

Second Chances staff have the best qualification for what they do, which is having been there and done that. They have recovered from addiction themselves, so they know about the pitfalls and the tools for getting better. As for the houses themselves, they are clean, safe, and tastefully furnished.

My kids are my world, and I would do anything for them. I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to get Matt well, but until I reached Jeff, it didn’t matter. With my son at Second Chances, I am hopeful again that he will have a whole and happy life without drugs and alcohol. I can’t recommend Second Chances enough!

I've Gained my Family Back

I didn’t know any different life but to use for all of my problems. I noticed I started really tearing my family apart…

But after living at Second Chances, I realize now I’ve gained my family back… I’m getting involved with knowing about my kids and knowing about myself…At first I thought I could never get away from my past, but…I have a brand new me. Every day I can wake up and I’m not living the old life anymore. I can live for today and the future.

We are so proud of you Rich! It's been a pleasure to serve you

Second Chances is by far and above the most balanced, productive and well lead sober living home I have been able to be a part of. The structure, discipline and guidance of Jeff Lewis( owner) and David Jackson overseeing the house I was living in 5 years ago allowed me to build my life back on my terms and pace without any pressure from them at all. I have been clean and sober from that first day I stepped in to Second Chances and I truly owe alot of my sobriety to Jeff and David indeed.

Second Chances was a blessing from God for me a little over 5 years ago. I was being released from state jail at that time not knowing or having a plan on what the next chapter in my life would be. Then I met Jeff Lewis and everything changed that i was having to contemplate that day and for the next chapter in my life. Jeff and David from day one treated and respected me like I was somebody and not the drug addict I was 5 years ago. They lead me in many ways to become the person and man that i am today with respect, guidance and love that i had never received from any other sober living home previously in my trying to attain my sobriety. Within a year I had become a house manager of a Second Chances home with Jeff having gained responsibility and the trust through Jeff. To this day and beyond I will forever be thankful to Jeff for giving me a second chance when nobody else would.

Great place for a fresh start with a cool house manager and a owner who knows this business well, he has several connections to people that are willing to help and who have access to resources that can help you along financially until you are able to stabilize a job. Wonderful place that has helped me immensely in the past.

I have stayed here several months and I have to say they really know a lot about what it takes to maintain sobriety and have fun and enjoy it as well. David Jackson is a great house manager and one of the nicest most knowledgeable guys I have had the pleasure to meet. Brandi is very helpful and understanding and is an amazing and kind person to talk to. Jeff knows about addiction from front to back and I enjoyed his positive attitude and the fact that he is a Christian and has helped me get reacquainted with God and with going to Church and realizing there is more out there if one is willing to take the time to look. Overall a great place to stay with a lot of nice people and a place to learn that there is hope, and that there is a second chance out there for all of us to make things right.

David Jackson and Jeff Lewis are the reasons this program is excellent. They both have a vested interest in guiding those struggling with addiction and transforming their lives for the better. The one on one mentoring I received from David made me feel welcome and made me believe that I could actually change after struggling with addiction for 15 years. I would highly recommend this program for anyone looking to turn their life around.

They aren't the fancyest sober home, but they make up for that with genuine care and support for people going through recovery. Highly recommend Second Chances if you need a sober living home in Austin. Addiction is hard enough and these guys are always around to lend a helping hand for someone in need.

Second Chances saved my life! I walked out of jail a little over a year ago and had two choices I could go back to the streets or I could go to sober living! Second Chances women’s home was there for me and it literally saved my life! I’m now the house manager of the Women’s house and I get to give back and help other women everyday! I love my job and I love the fact that Jeff Lewis believed in me enough to be able to help other women!

I came from Daytona Beach FL to move into Second Chances near Downtown Austin TX... Coming into the house I was almost tapered off the Suboxone. Within 1 and a half months of being in the house, I was given the tools and self-esteem by Jeff & David to finally break my last chain from the years of painkiller abuse. It is a high accountability sober house. So you are held to rules and given a sense of structure. Meetings, chores, and a job are the big 3, but Jeff and David work each client in a personal manor so you benefit from their wisdom. Jeff who owns Second Chances, gives you the drive to start working the 1st week in the house. Personally what I loved the most, was that Jeff always was planting that seed inside your mind about the next job that is better and higher paying. Also David the house manager, who has over 20 years of knowledge in his head, always has his door open for you to talk with him and if need be, get issues off your chest. I stayed 2 months and had a great high paying job at The Home Depot close to the house. Now it's been 2 months since I moved out (4 months in Austin). I'm living with a beautiful woman in Cedar Park that I met while still at the house, Upgraded my employment to Toyota of Cedar Park, willingly attend 3-5 meeting a week still, and get to enjoy a life of sobriety that I thought was just a dream a year ago.

Not a positive place. No real support, no community activity, no resources. Very expensive baby sitting by a nagging “manager” who acts annoyed when doing his job. House has as many people crammed in as possible. Most are miserable. Sitting around watching TV or sleeping all day are the only pastimes. Very depressing.

The best home I've lived in. The last 2 sober homes were not recovery based. Peggy not only saved my life, but is loving, giving and compasionate. This is a high accountability home and structured as well.
